New Rules for New Orleans Traffic Court during COVID-19
Many of you are likely aware that the New Orleans Municipal and Traffic Courts have begun reopening. Each Court has created their own guidelines that mirror the state and federal ones on reopening protocols. If your traffic case or municipal case was scheduled during the period the Court was closed for the pandemic then you should call 504-658-9700 to determine when your case has been rescheduled. Also, it is likely that you will receive a mailing to your last listed address with your new court date and information, If, however, you have moved or changed your address then it is important that you contact the Court in order to find out your new date and information. Each section of Court is meeting at a scheduled time.
Sec A 8am
Sec B 9am
Sec E 10am
Sec D12pm
Sec G 1pm
Sec H 2pm
Sec F 3pm
If you are scheduled in one of these sections you need to show up at this time and no later than 45 minutes after that time. If you fail to appear, an attachment or warrant will be issued for your arrest for failure to appear.
When you arrive at the Courthouse, you will be asked a series of questions regarding any potential exposure to COVID-19. Your temperature will be taken. Social distancing mandates are in effect and being enforced. Limited numbers of individuals are allowed in a courtroom at any given times, Masks must be worn at all times.
