Cleaning up Past Convictions for the New Year
If you have convictions on your background that are stopping you from moving ahead, now is the time to think about clearing them up. There are three different ways to file your expungement:
1) The time limitations for filing have passed and you can file. If you have a conviction and it has been 10 years for a felony or 5 years for a misdemeanor since the end of your sentence, we can file your expungement.
2) If you plead under the articles of expungement 893 for felony or 894 for misdemeanor, then we can file your expungement. You must have completed all the terms of the deferred sentences you received from the Court.
3) If you have received a first offender pardon from the Department of Public and Safety, then we can file immediately.
With the New Year coming, it is the time to get ahead of the rush and file your expungement now. It takes 60 days before the expungement can be signed. Let that time run when nothing is happening, because the Courts are closed for the holidays. Then, in the New Year, we can start you off on the right foot with a clean record that employers will see when they do your background check. Too many of my clients call me too late when the job opportunity is gone because the conviction has shown up. Let me help you get out in front of the situation. Call me today to discuss your options.
